What happens when you don't train for a marathon.....
- you get to mile 13 and wish you'd down-graded to the half - cuz you'd be done
- you start calling the race 'a supported training run'. You know, for the next marathon.
- you get passed by people who don't look like runners
- your knees and feet hurt by mile 17 instead of 23
- you walk mile 18
- you walk miles 22-25
- you get passed by the 5 hour pace team
- medical support asks if you're okay
- Arizona is really nice in January
- you cross the finish line at the speed of light....because you walked the last 3 miles.
- "no training" also means you didn't break in your shoes
- 6 blisters on my toes...big ones
- Marathon #7 = worst time ever
- I finished. So I got a medal...it's all about the medal!
Kids say the darndest things!!
- Bowen, age 4: Mom, I need sunlight!
- Kenzie, age 9: (While driving in downtown SLC) "I like this habitat, I feel good here."
- Bowen, age 3: These are splendid shoes.
- Bowen, age 3: Mom, this is lovely cheese!
- Kenzie, age 8: She wants rainbow beads, which I presume to be these ones.
- Bowen, age 3: My heart is broken!
- Kenzie, age 3: It's yucky and beautiful!!
- Bowen, age 3: Mom, you look beautiful!
- Jade, age 6: Mom, look at my accurate drawing.
- Kenzie, age 4: Mom, there's a really curious bug over here.
The joys of the triathlon open water swim.....
- Why swimming in a pool is better than swimming in a lake...
- Pools are heated
- Ergo - you don't need a wetsuit in a pool.
- Pools smell like bleach, lakes smell like dead fish.
- You can see the bottom of the pool.
- You don't want to see the bottom of the lake.
- Pools have lanes.
- Waves made by other swimmers are not as bad as waves made by boats.

My name is Amy and I am a 32 year old wife and mother of 4. Mackenzie is 9, Jade is 6, Bowen is 3 and Talia is 7 months. I work as a personal trainer and as a corporate wellness specialist. I have about a million things that I love to do! Okay, not quite a million - but my husband thinks it's pretty close. I love being a mom and all the craziness that entails. I run marathons and triathlons, travel, teach aerobics, lift weights, scrapbook, sew, quilt, crochet, make my own soap, garden (after a fashion), tat, bellydance......the list goes on and on. Lucky for me, my husband, Rob, lets me do all this stuff. "The best wife is a happy wife" he always says. He is so smart!

Thanks so much Amy, Ashley is beautiful! Kirk certainly looks happy, and what a great picture of Grandma and Grandpa Manning.
Becky and I were talking and we want you to do a "younger" and "now" picture of all the kids in your family. I have a hard time knowing who all these grown up people are.

Oh, I remember little Kirkie Waldron. I also remember that if you left food out unattended for even a fraction of a second, he would eat it. Like entire boxes of cupcakes, or donuts, it didn't matter, that kid was an eater. Congrats to your brother!
